2007

January - Chair announced that prices had been set for both the Presidential Reception ($50.00) and the Presidential Banquet ($60.00), and that menus for both events had been chosen, and were posted under the respective sub-folders under the "Holy Name Convention 2007" folder of this Website.

Chair also announced that a Convention Mailing would go out in March, and that the Pennsylvania Association of the Holy Name Society would send out its separate mailing, primarily focused on the "Post-Convention Workshops" to be held on September 9th, see the "Workshops" sub-folder under the "Holy Name Convention 2007" folder of this Website.

2006

December - The President read the minutes of the December 2, 2006 Convention Committee Meeting (see sub-folder "Committee Minutes", under the folder "Holy Name Convention 2007" of this Website), with the following addenda:

1.  Edwin Winter has selected a harpist to provide musical entertainment at the Presidential Banquet;

2.  A deposit check, in the amount of $80.00 has been sent to the Constitution Center, for the General Tour.

3.  Brochures describing both the General Tour, and the Spousal Tour have been received.  For details about these events, please see their respective sub-folders, under the folder "Holy Name Convention 2007" on this Website.

4.  Regarding the Essay Contest, 3 positive, and 1 negative response have been received from Catholic high schools.

November - The Chair reported a meeting with Barbara Mirabile, of the Radisson Valley Forge Hotel, in which the following points were covered:

1.  Menus were obtained for both the Presidential Reception and Presidential Banquet;

2.  The entire meeting area - Grand Ballroom and 4 adjacent rooms - can be secured;

3.  Display tables are available at the rate of $25.00 apiece;

4.  Hotel reservations may be made by calling the Radisson Valley Forge Hotel directly (not the 800 Number for Radisson), and asking for reservations under "National Association of the Holy Name Society".  The registration deadline is August 12, 2007.  Rates are $139.00 per night, Single or Double Occupancy; $149.00 per night, Triple or Quadruple Occupancy.  These rates become available 3 days before the Convention, and continue until 3 days after adjournment.

5.  The Hospitality Suite - Rooms 1210-11-12, is complimentary, and is available from 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 5, until checkout time on Monday, September 10.  The Chair will stay in one bedroom, and will allocate the other to a person of his choice.

6.  The Presidential Banquet will be in the downstairs ballroom.  Therefore, we must vacate the Grand Ballroom and its adjacent rooms by 4:00 PM on Saturday afternoon.

7.  St. Monica Parish, Berwyn, will hold a Welcoming Reception for early arrivals on the evening of Wednesday, September 5, 2007.

June - The Chair reported that Cardinal Rigali has withdrawn his acceptance of our invitation to be Principal Celebrant and Homilist for the Closing Mass, due to duties in Rome at that time.  Joseph Podsiadlo has agreed to serve as Program Book Chair.

May - Cardinal Rigali has agreed to serve as Principal Celebrant and Homilist at our Closing Mass.  The Pennsylvania Association of the Holy Name Society has finalized its schedule of workshops for the closing day of the Convention, see the sub-folder "Workshops" under the folder "Holy Name Convention 2007" on this Website.

March - The Chair reported receiving a donation of $1,000.00 for the Convention from Most Reverend Louis DeSimone.

January - The President reported raffle ticket sales of 306 books, for a net profit of $1,671.00 for the Convention Committee in 2005.  He also reported that the Convention Christmas Party was held on December 16, 2005, in the Bryn Mawr Room of the Radission Valley Forge Hotel.

2005

May - The Chair reported the following items:

1.  On April 19th, he met with Pam Smith, of the Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau, and was advised that they could help us both with registration and with preparation of badges.

2.  On May 6th, he met with Michael Manion, our Principal Banquet Speaker, and advised him about the Holy Name Society.

3.  On May 12th, he met with Rev. Thaddeus Pacholczyk, of the National Catholic Bioethics Center, to discuss his workshop on "Castholic Moral Principles in End of Life Decision-Making"

April - The Chair announced that the Group Tour would be to the National Constitution Center, since the proposed Revolutionary War Museum will not be completed in time for our Convention.

March - The Chair met with Monsignor Conway, pastor of Mother of Divine Providence Parish, King of Prussia, PA, where our Closing Mass will be celebrated.  Monsignor was most cooperative with all Holy Name requests.
